Jason Dimer
Karlkurla Dreaming 2017
MURAL LOCATION
WASM Building 703
Cnr Macdonald & Cassidy St, Kalgoorlie
“The Karkurla Dreaming is a story of the Ancestral ties to the land of the local Aboriginal people of the Kalgoorlie area. It tells the importance-through symbolism, of the Hunter Gatherer lifestyle pre-settlement and the spiritual connections between the people, the waterholes, the flora and the fauna of the Karlkurla area. Karlkurla (Silky Pear) was the name given by the local Aboriginal people to the area upon settlement. The name was changed from Karlkurla to Kalgoorlie through phonetics over the years.”
