COMMITTEE MEMBERS
Melissa Drummond - Chairperson
Melissa is a geologist, deployed in a range of roles including remote field work, project management and stakeholder engagement. She has also worked as a freelance photographer for the last decade, and continues to combine this with her full-time role. Primarily a documentary photographer, Melissa works with a diverse range of clients throughout the Goldfields region, including many in the arts and culture arena where she has been fortunate to meet a lot of interesting and talented people!
Melissa has been involved with collective exhibitions and group shows locally, and is also an amateur musician, playing guitar in a Kalgoorlie-based traditional Irish and folk music group.
Monika Dvorak - Vice-Chairperson
Monika Dvorak studied Arts/Law at UWA and has a Diploma of Multimedia from Curtin. She worked at Curtin VTEC specialising in Aboriginal artists in business and has curated many art exhibitions including CKB Art prize. Monika was art coordinator for Indigenous Public artworks including Kalgoorlie Health Campus, Renal Hostel, Court House, Eastern Goldfields Regional Prison and Heartwalk. Monika has managed galleries and art studios including Desert Art and Bush Blossom Gallery since 1993 and supports artists with professional development, projects, publications, documentaries and art sales to the local and international market. She has volunteered with Artgold since its inception and is passionate about the development of arts and culture in the WA Goldfields.
Tanya Kinslow - Secretary
Tanya a registered nurse, wife and mother and self proclaimed amateur beekeeper she possesses a keen interest in change management and project implementation. These interests reflect her personal enthusiasm for quality improvement, which she consistently integrates into her professional endeavors. Tanya believes that art can bridge cultural and social gaps, making it a powerful tool for advocacy. As a board member of Artgold, Tanya leverages her passion for change management and her belief in art as a conduit for communication. She contributes to the organisation's mission by supporting projects that highlight the importance of inclusion and diversity. Her involvement with Artgold exemplifies her commitment to using her skills and interests to make a positive impact on society. Her role in Artgold further underscores her belief in the power of art to unite and communicate across different communities.
Asfand Nouman – Treasurer
Asfand Nouman is working as a Finance Manager and holds a Bachelor of Business, majoring in Accounting, from Edith Cowan University in Perth, Western Australia. With a strong background in financial management and compliance, Asfand Nouman brings their expertise to Artgold as Treasurer, ensuring the organisation's finances are well-managed and aligned with its mission to promote arts and culture in the Goldfields. Originally from a culturally diverse background, Asfand Nouman is passionate about the power of art and culture to unite communities, foster inclusivity, and create a positive environment. Their work with Artgold allows them to give back to the community while supporting local artists and cultural initiatives. Beyond their professional and volunteer commitments, Asfand Nouman is an active participant in community sports. They believe in the importance of staying connected through both physical activity and creative expression, seeing these as key to building stronger, healthier communities. Through their role at Artgold, Asfand Nouman is proud to contribute to the vibrant cultural landscape of the Goldfields and support initiatives that bring people together through shared artistic and cultural experiences.
Kylie Blackwell - Committee Member
Paula Hart - Committee Member
Paula Hart is the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for a local not-for-profit organization. Born in Kalgoorlie, she has lived in various places across Australia before returning to Kalgoorlie about 20 years ago. Paula became a member and later a board member of the Artgold Association to give back to the community and to help promote and support the arts and culture. While she does not consider herself an artist, she enjoys dabbling in a bit of painting, believing that "art is good for the mind, body, and soul."
Kelly Arcaro - Committee Member
Residing in Kalgoorlie-Boulder WA, Kelly Arcaro is a contemporary fibre and textile artist with a background in earth sciences. Her work explores our relationship with the natural world and the hidden complexities within it. Kelly has previously received an award at the City of Kalgoorlie Art Prize and been accepted into juried exhibitions including The Jury Prize and Australian Textile Art Awards. Also Secretary of Golden Mile Art Group, Kelly, is passionate about creating a community and networking opportunities for regional artists in what can be an isolating and sometimes lonely career choice.
Tina Carmody - Committee Member
Tina Carmody is an accomplished, multi award winning artist and curator with a strong connection to her cultural heritage as a Wudjari/Noongar and Upurli Upurli/Anangu woman. A former Indigenous Curator Trainee at the Art Gallery of WA, she co-curated the landmark Boundless exhibition in 2002. Two decades later, Carmody curated Nganana, the Goldfields segment of The Alternative Archive, highlighting the region's vibrant arts scene. Known for her experimental approach, her work explores her cultural identity through diverse mediums. Carmody is a passionate advocate for representing all artists from her community and fostering artistic collaboration.
Tim Neeson - Committee Member
Based in Kalgoorlie-Boulder WA and with over 25 years in the tech industry Tim has lived and/or worked in Australia, NZ, PNG and Nauru Island.
Tim is also passionate about active physical co-working spaces, VR/MR/AR & gamification, Fibre NBN, drones, innovation & design thinking, makerspaces & IoT, supporting startups and the regional ecosystem, integrating arts into everything, adventure & eco tourism, EV's, regional livability & resilience, biotecture, big ideas, bold climate action and working together with first nations people.
Mireia Gonzalez - Committee Member
Mireia is strongly driven by the desire to create connections in the community and between cultures. Major studies include a PhD in plant genetics, philosophy degree, early childcare education and dance. Mireia came to Australia 8 years ago, attracted by the power of this land, their people and their ancestors. Working as a childcare educator, helping children to feel loved and to grow into happy humans is her central mission. Located in the Goldfields, Mireia wants to bring arts, culture and connection to this precious and remote human landscape. She believes that through the language of art the message of unity can be felt, understood and shared.
