Sarah McCloskey
A Lovers’ Promenade 2018

MURAL LOCATION
Hoovers Cafe Laneway
88 Maritana St, Kalgoorlie

"This painting was inspired by a love poem rumoured to have been written by President Herbert Hoover about his time in Kalgoorlie. The poem is filled with evocative language and imagery - of blooming flowers, rich colour and passion, and of the girl he longed for. The girl is said to have been a barmaid who worked in the Palace Hotel, and this is where the poem is displayed now. The title of this work is also taken from a line in the poem and felt suited to the walkway that this mural now looks over.”
