“Having recently stumbled across a Guide to Drawing Comic Books: Comics 101 the idea behind this mural was to paint the City Kalgoorlie-Boulder with the Superhero-brush. Various questions arose e.g. If Kalgoorlie-Boulder was to spawn a superhero what would he/she look like? What would Kalgoorlie look like in a comic book setting? What would a worthy villain/adversary look like? etc. The flat colours and level of detail is an attempted nod to the retro era of comics, while I pushed the perspective and foreshortening in the drawing as far as possible.
