Arts sector needed in Local Government review

Local Government review needs your input

Local Government review needs your input

For the first time in more than 20 years, the Local Government Act 1995 is due for a shake up - and the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries is hitting the road with a series of consultation workshops, to ask how the Act can be improved. There will be two rounds of workshops, and although the second round in 2018 may be more relevant to the regional arts sector.

As one of our members, working with the arts, your say is vital to improving support for the arts throughout regional WA. We'd love to see local governments all over the state embrace Cultural Plans which guarantee ongoing support for local artists and arts projects. Now, through these workshops, the State Government is giving you the opportunity to speak directly to those with the authority to make changes to how Local Governments engage and plan.

I hope you’ll take advantage of this fantastic opportunity to improve regional arts in WA.
