Lorna Mitchell Spring Festival - Awarded Community Event of the Year!

Past

The Goldfields Spring Festival was established by the Goldfields Art Board in 1985 to provide a platform for the public to celebrate all that is spring in the Goldfields. This annual community driven event is now coordinated by the Chamber, along with the support of our partners the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder and the Kalgoorlie Miner. After 29 years, the Goldfields Spring Festival is one institution that has stood the test of time.

Stall holders from various backgrounds participate in the Festival, along with varying acts of entertainment throughout the day. The festival appeals to a great deal of our community, with over 8,000 patrons attending every year and it is not uncommon for these people to spend the entire day at Hammond Park. Hammond Park is one of the most beautiful parks in WA and is the perfect location for the Festival, making this event enjoyable fun for the whole family.

Future

Each year the festival increases in stall holders and attendance, in 2014 10,000 people attended the event and stalls increased by 25%. The Chamber is always looks at new ways to develop the event and to offer more for the community to see and do.

Unfortunately, just days before the 2014 Festival, the Goldfields lost a  treasured member of our community, Lorna Mitchell. Lorna had been heavily involved in the Festival and was one of the founding members. Lorna passed away at the age of 101 and will be sorely missed by those who knew and admired her. KBCCI are proud to announce that from now on , the Festival will be renamed the “Lorna Mitchell Spring Festival” to coincide with the 30 year anniversary of the event.

Online applications are currently closed and will reopen July / August. Previous stall holders will be notified via email.
